Getting Your Crew Set Up

A practical checklist for getting your crew accounts, permissions, and devices ready before the season starts.

Getting Your Crew Set Up

Before your crews can clock in, view jobs, or log work, you need to get their accounts created, permissions configured, and devices ready. This guide walks through each step in order.

Step 1 β€” Create Employee Accounts

Each crew member needs their own account in SVP. See Adding Employees for the full walkthrough on creating accounts, setting roles, and entering contact details.

Step 2 β€” Set Permissions by Role

Not everyone on your crew needs access to everything. SVP uses role-based permissions so you can control exactly what each person can see and do. See Permissions for a breakdown of available roles and what each one grants.

Step 3 β€” Understand the Crew Portal

Your crew interacts with SVP through the Crew Portal β€” a simplified view designed for field use. It surfaces their assigned jobs, time clock, and relevant job details without exposing admin functions. See Crew Portal Guide for an overview of what crew members see and can do.

Step 4 β€” Install SVP on Crew Tablets

SVP is a Progressive Web App (PWA) β€” there's nothing to download from an app store. To install it on a crew tablet:

  1. Open SVP in the tablet's browser (Chrome recommended)
  2. Tap the browser menu (three dots)
  3. Select Add to Home Screen
  4. Confirm the name and tap Add

SVP will now appear as an icon on the home screen and open in a full-screen app experience. Repeat this on every crew device.

Step 5 β€” Set Up the Time Clock

If you're using SVP for crew time tracking, the time clock needs to be configured before the first day. See Time Clock for setup instructions and how crew members clock in and out.

You're Ready

Once accounts are created, permissions are set, devices are installed, and the time clock is configured β€” your crew is ready to go. Run a quick test clock-in with one crew member before the season starts to make sure everything is working end to end.
